The NHTSA Ease of Use (EOU) program, originally established in November 2002 and updated in January 2008, provides child seat information to the public and encourages manufacturers to make improvements in child car seat designs.
The program now awards star ratings (rather than the grade ratings offered with the original program) based on features tested by NHTSA, including the following (taken from the NHTSA parent information brochure):
